New Kid on the Block

The Pillars Scientific Advisory Council has gained in Bledi Taska a new member whose credentials and expertise are a perfect fit to help guide Pillars’ course towards inclusive labor markets.

A labour economist by training, Bledi specializes in the application of econometrics and data science methods to real-time labor market data. The team of economists and data scientists he leads at Lightcast, support his company’s public policy research, product development, and collaboration with academic researchers and international organizations. 

His team is currently involved in projects around skills mismatch and labour shortages, the future of skills, the effect of automation and the covid pandemic, and reskilling of workers based on skill adjacencies.

A much sought-after speaker at high-level conferences around the world, he has also published in such well-regarded media as The Economist, Financial Times, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, among others.

Bledi holds a PhD in Economics from New York University, with a focus on labour and education economics, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Economics from the University of Athens, Greece.
